#I totally forgot about Max’s fucked up relationship with Nick’s brother#ok so Jake /hates/ Nick but he was lonely so he stole an LMD of Nick and gave it Nick’s memories#but he made it subservient to him#I think the timeline is that they spent years working together#and all the while Jake treats Max cruelly because he represents a person that he hates#but Max legitimately loves Jake and thinks highly of him even though Nick didn’t#but Jake projects his understanding of his brother onto Max so he doesn't get that until the very end#and then Jake gives up and forces Max to give him his gun and then kills himself in front of Max#(also because Max had picked up the gun by the time anyone else got there Nick assumes that Jake ordered Max to kill him himself)#anyway in my mind Max was totally using John Steele as a replacement for Jake#look how much Max defers to him- that’s not very Nick Fury-like#also it's soo important to Max throughout Secret Avengers (2010) that he’s a real person#but Jake was really important to Max too and he said he wasn't a real person#and John valued Max for being like Nick Fury#marvel#jake fury#max fury#nick fury#jack norris#john steele#my posts#comic panels
